A horizontal three-phase separator typically includes a fixed or variable weir to separate the oil from the water. Some designs use a flooded oil weir while others use an oil overflow weir. The bucket and weir configuration is a n alternative, but less frequently used, design.
A Heated separator is typically after a Sand Separator and/or a line heater, and provides just enough heat in this stage to separator oil, water and gas. It can be used for Bulk separation and Testing as well. Heated Separators are usually called Heated Separators. The benefit of a Heated Separator is dependent on the situation.
